Messy play

This week we’ve loved getting messy, if you can’t get messy at nursery then where can you get messy!
We hid spiders in our shaving foam web and laid out tweezers to try and rescue them, of course putting our hands in the foam was much more fun.
We also set out a tray with paint and conkers, we modelled how we could roll the conkers through the paint and let the children explore with their hands, lots of talk about colours and lots of mark making.
These activities are super important, we don’t need an outcome for an activity, sometimes we just need to explore and see what happens. This critical thinking allows children to think of ideas and carry them out and see what happens, to check their predictions, did mixing those two colours make the colour they guessed etc.
